World Languages

Globalization has led to rapid changes in our economy, culture, laws, technology, and education. World language teachers have become essential for schools and communities to ensure that they are graduating students with the skills and cultural competencies to succeed in the 21st century.

The IUPUI Bachelor of Science in Education and World Languages degree combines an extensive foreign language study with a foundation in education theory and instructional methodologies. The early urban school field experiences help teacher candidates recognize how multilingualism and language development are influenced by social, cultural, and geopolitical contexts.

This degree is for students interested in completing a major in a foreign language and a teaching license in Spanish, German, French, or American Sign Languages. It aims to meet the requirements recommended for Indiana's secondary education teaching license.
