Darius Lewis awarded NCUR 2024 Accepted Student Poster Presentation
We want to congratulate Darius and his accomplishments!
Darius Lewis is a Junior and is currently in our Teacher Education Program and his submission to the NCUR (National Conference on Undergraduate Research) has been accepted. The submission, "Carter G Woodson, A Visionary Creating a Legacy for Black Children: A Duo Ethnographic Conversation," has been accepted for presentation as "Accepted Student Poster Presentation" for the NCUR Conference in California in April.
Darius Lewis' SOE ArticleJeremy Price has been named the CUMU Research Fellow for 2023-2024
Through the fellowship, he will work to extend, deepen, and advance the types of potential metrics that explain the impacts of community-engaged projects.
“It’s an honor to be selected as the CUMU-Collaboratory Research Fellow, and I’m excited to be able to work on such an interesting project for the field of community engaged research. I look forward to collaborating with researchers and practitioners to develop interesting and effective ways to support community engaged scholars in telling their stories,” said Price.

In this role, Dr. Taylor will provide strategic leadership in the creation and implementation of an assessment plan.
With her Ph.D in curriculum and instruction focusing on culturally relevant assessment systems and feedback in schooling spaces, her expertise was admired by the Honors College in their endeavor to assess belongingness and the effectiveness of their DEI efforts. Dr. Taylor is tasked with creating measurement systems, auditing assessments in place and data analysis (quantitative and qualitative). All this work is geared around making recommendations for programming and providing tangible data to incorporate in their narrative of impact.

Congratulations to Dr. Tina O’Neal for being selected as a Faculty Fellow with IUPUI Office of International Affairs for the 2023-2024 academic year.
In addition to her current development of our New “Inspire, Educate, and Transform: Ghana Short-Term Study Abroad program, Dr. O’Neal will serve as a catalyst to strengthen the infrastructures that support study abroad and drive innovation within the School of Education for study abroad programs, projects, and initiatives. Some of her work will include conducting a thorough needs assessment, engaging faculty, staff, and students to identify the barriers that may hinder student participation in study abroad programs. With the insights gathered, Dr. O’Neal plans to develop and implement a Study Abroad Action Plan, complete with specific goals and measurable metrics to guide our progress.
These initiatives collectively reflect the IUPUI Office of International Affairs dedication to creating a more inclusive, globally-aware educational environment where students have every opportunity to enrich their learning through international experiences.

Dr. Roberto Swazo has been selected for a Fulbright award to Angola.
The Fulbright Program, including the Fulbright–Hays Program, is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs with the goal of improving intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills.
