Admission Requirements

Secondary Teacher Education Admission Requirements

Students must meet the minimum requirements to be considered for admission, but meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission.

  • Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 at the time of application

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.50 in your major at the time of application

  • Complete a minimum of 58 credits.
    • 37 credits of the General Education Core and Pre-professional Program requirements
    • 21 credits of the Content Major
  • TEP applicants should have no fewer than 15 credits and no more than 27 credits outside of the TEP when they enter the program. This includes dual license courses.

Complete state required entrance test which includes one of the following:

  • ACT with a score of at least 24 based on math, reading, grammar, and science.

  • SAT with a score of at least 1100 based on critical reading and math.

  • Praxis I with a composite score of 527 based on reading, writing, and math taken by 8-31-13.

  • CASA with a score of 220 on each of reading, writing, and math.

  • Complete all parts of the application & meet deadlines of September 7 for spring admission & February 7 for fall. The application is available within the Student Portal.
