Biography

My research interests are examining ways to improve the rate of success for underrepresented racial minorities in higher education.

Outside of academia, I have an interest in playing the piano, cooking, video games, and fitness.

HIV Status, Partner HIV Status, and Condom Use: Testing the AIDS Risk Reduction Model.

Research Interests

Examining the factors which increase under-represented minority (URM) success and retention in higher education.

Current Projects

ITEST:

An implementation of model eliciting activities using science-based community issues as contexts for learning among underrepresented minority middle school students. The project will evaluate teacher preparedness for teaching such course material along with student. The goal of the project is to increase the number of underrepresented minority middle school students who are prepared for advanced secondary STEM courses. 

The Enhancing Mentoring Program with Opportunities for Ways to Excel in Research (EMPOWER):
An evaluation of IUPUI faculty who are history underrepresented and/or excluded in their area of discipline. The goal of the project is to support IUPUI minority faculty in achieving significant career advancement and growth in their respective fields.
