and moved to Indiana so he could finish his degree at IUPUI after
he finished his military service.

Served on the first Governor's Educational Technology Council
Retired from teaching 2 years ago, and have had a consulting company
doing training with school districts in educational technology,
working with teachers on ideas for using technology to help them
teach.
What
was your most memorable learning experience?
I have spent the last 4 years learning about Down's Syndrome after
the birth of a granddaughter with Downs. It is amazing what that
single extra chromosome does, and it amazes me how early intervention
and therapy make such a difference in a child's learning and development.
I think this has been so memorable to me because it is so personal.
What
special strengths do you bring to Indiana University?
Energy and excitement about what technology can do for students.
I feel like I have a good reputation in the state with educators
involved in technology, so I know what their concerns and problems
are.
If you could visit or revisit any place in the world, where would
it be and why?
I was in China the year before the Tiennamen Square incident.
You could tell things were so touchy there, and folks were so
interested in us and how we could travel freely and about the
freedoms we had. I would love to go back now to see how things
have changed.
If
you could have a one hour discussion with any historical figure,
who would it be and why?
Since to me He is more than just a historical figure, I would
love to talk with Jesus Christ. I have so many questions about
why things happen like they do; for example, why bad things happen
to good people, etc.
