A Field Trip to Washington D.C.

A Webquest

  We will be taking a field trip to Washington D.C.  This will be a two day trip.  You will plan our class trip.  You get to make all of the important decisions!

   

 The Task

·         Check out the weather before we go! Find and write down the average temperature for this time of year. List the items you will need to pack in your suitcase.

·         Decide where we will eat dinner both nights and figure our how much money will be needed.

·         Decide where we will stay.  List the possibilities based on the amount of money we have to spend.

·         Plan our sightseeing tour for the two days.  List four places you would like to visit and give two interesting facts about each place.

·         Print a map of D.C.  Locate and highlight each sight you plan to visit.

·         Visit the White House and answer a series of questions.

The Process

1.  Go back to Resources and click on Fact Sheet to do your first four tasks.  Locate the information on Weather and find the average temperature for July.  Make a list of items you will pack based on the weather this time of year.

2.  Click on Where to Eat.  Read all of your choices.  Select two different restaurants for dinner locations for two nites.  Give approximate amount of money needed for each meal.

3.  You need to decide where we will stay.  We have $150.00 to spend per night.  List the possible hotels we could stay  at.  Select one !  Why did you pick this hotel?  What did you like about it?

4.  Plan our sightseeing tour for the two days.  List four places you would like to visit and give two interesting facts about each place.

5. Click HERE for a Washington D.C. sightseeing map.  Print the map.  Locate and highlight each sight you visited.

6.  Go back to Resources and click on  White House to  visit the White House.  Answer the questions on your handout. 

Learning Advice

Remember:  You can do your first four steps by clicking on " fact sheet " under Resources.  Your last step - visiting the White House - can be completed by clicking on "White House" under Resources.

Be Sure To:  Put all answers on the provided handouts.  You may use another sheet of paper if necessary.

Conclusion

Did you like planning our class field trip?   Did you like learning about Washington D.C.?  Do you like making important decisions?  If you could plan another class field trip where would we go and why?
