Transition to Teaching (T2T) Programs

Teacher Licensing for Individuals with Bachelor´s Degrees

Transition to Teaching

Transition to Teaching Programs (T2T) are the fastest routes to teacher licensing for potential candidates who have a bachelor´s degree. Eligible individuals must have a regionally accredited bachelor´s degree with a 3.0 or better GPA overall and in their major, or a 2.5 GPA and 5 years of teaching experience as a lead teacher in a public or private school. Individuals who have earned a master´s degree in the area in which they wish to teach from an accredited institution are eligible regardless of their bachelor´s GPA. Math and science majors only can be considered for the T2T program with an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 or higher. Candidates with undergraduate GPA´s between 2.5 and 2.9 would not be eligible for the T2T program, but instead would be eligible for the Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program. Candidates with undergraduate GPA´s below 2.5 would need to complete a second bachelor´s degree.

Both programs select candidates to be part of a cohort that takes courses together throughout the entire program.  The T2T programs are comprised of a sequence of graduate level courses and practical school experiences. Students admitted to the program take all prescribed courses in order. Elementary T2T candidates work alongside undergraduate students for part of their program. Elementary T2T candidates also take some of the same courses as students in the undergraduate Learning to Teach/Teaching to Learn program.   The Secondary T2T Program has its own set of courses taught only to the cohort.
