Master's Degree or Ceritification Programs - Educational Leadership

This program is available at both the Bloomington and Indianapolis IU campuses. The Educational Leadership master's degree program is combined with a program to obtain the Standard Administration License for Administrators and Supervisors (principal’s license). Applicants must hold a standard Indiana teaching license and have a minimum of two years of teaching experience.

One must have five years of teaching experience and pass the required School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) exam before the license will be issued.

A certification only program is available for students who already hold a master's degree and valid Indiana teaching license and who wish to become licensed as a principal.

 

  • A new cohort is forming for classes which will begin in the summer.
  • Students may apply for admission to the IUPUI Urban Principal Master's Program or for certification courses only.
  • Students will engage in five weeks of intensive coursework for two summers for certification.
  • Ongoing university support following the completion of the program.
  • Program is linked to your district through field based work and collaboration with current administrators.
