license renewal

With Indiana´s Rules 2002 licensing changes, teachers in Indiana have been given more control over their professional learning. They develop Professional Growth Plans, plan Professional Growth Experiences aligned with their learning goals, and submit reflective commentaries of their learning to the Indiana Department of Education to renew their licenses.

Teachers who have a current Indiana teaching license must renew their license every five years. Teachers pursuing graduate credit will need to take 6 credit hours to fulfill their license renewal requirements. In addition to graduate credit options, the Office of Professional Development may offer CRUs or PGPs for onsite or online professional development.
A teacher renewing a license with graduate credit must take classes as an education graduate non-degree student. Teachers who are interested in making their 6 credit hours part of a masters' degree must apply and be accepted to the masters' degree program of their choice. Once accepted as a graduate student, these individuals plan a program of study with the help of School of Education faculty.  Learn more >>
